PaneVue ("we", "our", "the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how PaneVue handles your information.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

PaneVue is a local file manager application. We do not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data, usage analytics, or telemetry. The App does not contain any tracking code, analytics SDKs, or advertising frameworks.

2. Local Data Storage

All data created and used by PaneVue is stored locally on your Mac:

Settings & Preferences — Stored in macOS UserDefaults, accessible only to PaneVue.
SFTP Credentials — Stored in a local encrypted file at ~/.config/PaneVue/.credentials with file permissions restricted to your user account (0600). Passwords are obfuscated, not stored in plain text.
OAuth Tokens — Google Drive and OneDrive OAuth tokens are stored locally on your device. We never see or have access to these tokens.
Session State — Tab paths and window state are saved locally for session restoration.

3. Third-Party Services

PaneVue connects to the following third-party services only when you explicitly initiate a connection:

SFTP Servers — Connections are made directly from your Mac to the server you specify, using the SSH2 protocol via libssh2. No data passes through our servers.
Google Drive — Uses the Google Drive REST API v3 with OAuth2 authentication. Your files and credentials are exchanged directly between your Mac and Google's servers.
OneDrive — Uses the Microsoft Graph API with OAuth2 PKCE authentication. Your files and credentials are exchanged directly between your Mac and Microsoft's servers.

We do not operate any proxy servers or intermediary services. All connections are direct, peer-to-peer between your Mac and the remote service.

4. No Cloud Infrastructure

PaneVue does not maintain any servers, databases, or cloud infrastructure that processes your data. The App is a standalone macOS application.

5. File Access

PaneVue requires access to your local file system to function as a file manager. The App may request Full Disk Access to browse all directories. File access is strictly for the file management features you use and is never logged or transmitted.

6. Children's Privacy

PaneVue does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13 years of age.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
